BENEFITS OF USING THE GHIN SYSTEM

The GHIN System is a great way for your league players to compete fairly on league night; however, the GHIN System also allows your golfers to compete fairly when they travel to other courses.

The following are some reasons why the GHIN System could be a great option for your league’s handicapping needs.

Certification
The GHIN System issues official USGA Handicap Indexes that allow golfers to compete fairly regardless of their ability or location. Based on the USGA Handicap System, the GHIN System takes into account the relative difficulty of each course the golfer plays to establish a handicap index. The golfer then converts the index to a course handicap for play.

Revision Process
Each golfer posts scores either at the golf course or via the Internet. Handicap indexes are revised every two weeks, based on the scores posted. However, leagues can use the trend index for league play, which is updated with each score posted on the handicap computer.

With each revision, every golfer receives a handicap sticker label at their home course or through the email. eRevision -- any golfer with an email address saved on the GHIN computer will receive an email the night before each revision with the golfer’s revision scores, handicap index, index history and association news.)

Tournament Pairing Program
In addition to the base package of the GHIN System, the Tournament Pairing Program is available to league officers for producing pairings, scorecards, reports, teams, flights and other options for competitions. Coming in 2005, the addition of league management options that allow for season-long competition league play with round-by-round (weekly) pairings and scoring.

The GHIN System is the best handicapping software available, and your golf course may already be a member of the GHIN System. For more information, contact the Northern Ohio Golf Association.
